Duquesne University Campus Ministry envisions a caring community
of students and staff—both religious and lay—who provide
a spiritual service that is central to the life of the University.
Invitations to participate in spiritual expression exist in daily
liturgical worship as well as other special events, unique prayer
opportunities, various faith sharing groups for students, and
programs designed especially for faculty and staff. The concept
of “Campus Ministry” at Duquesne has developed into
“ministry on campus—and beyond.” This is evident
in programs such as designated months for Hunger and Homelessness
Awareness, as well as respect for the environment celebrated in
Spring Clean-Up. Beyond campus, new initiatives such as prison
ministry supplement traditional mission trips to disadvantaged
areas like Immokalee, Florida, where students confront the economic
challenges faced by immigrant farm workers. Duquesne Campus Ministry
continues to develop programs and volunteer opportunities that
deepen understanding of the universal call to work for justice
and promote peace locally in our own communities and throughout
the world.
