Do you represent individuals hurt in accidents? Do you investigate such claims for an insurance company or an employer? If so, chances are you're already familiar with the phenomenon of the independent medical examination (IME), whereby physicians who have not previously been involved in the injured party's care are hired to determine the cause, extent and optimal medical treatment for those injuries.

But what do you know about IME industry standards? Who pays for IMEs and record reviews, and why? How does the IME doctor-patient relationship differ from that found in purely therapeutic settings? How does one differentiate among multiple injuries to determine causation? What are the ethical issues at play in securing neutral IMEs?

Please join us on Friday, DECEMBER 1 for our final Forensic Fridays seminar of the year, when we will be addressing these questions and many more - from the role of forensic medicine in conducting IMEs to the importance of selecting the right medical team for an effective analysis of potential civil liability. Cosponsored by local IME firm, Tucker IME, this seminar will include presentations by Chief Medical Officer Jon B. Tucker, M.D. and CEO Eleanor P. McNulty, J.D., a look at some specific medical applications in IMEs, and a case studies review by a panel of medical experts, including Dr. Cyril H. Wecht. We encourage registrants to send suggested case study topics to us prior to the seminar, and we will try to incorporate all suggestions into the presentation. Please send suggestions by Monday, Nov. 27.

This course is approved by the Pennsylvania CLE Board for 2 hours of Substantive CLE credit and 1 hour of Ethics CLE credit.
